Crafted Around Your Vision

The most remarkable creations begin with an idea.

Perhaps it is a treasured photograph waiting to become an engraved ceramic feature wall. A beautifully weathered piece of reclaimed timber destined to become a statement table. A family crest preserved in slate. A Lichtenberg wall sculpture unlike anything that exists elsewhere. Or perhaps it is simply an inspiration waiting to be realised.

At Austen & White, bespoke craftsmanship lies at the very heart of what we do. We specialise in transforming individual ideas into exceptional creations, combining artistry, technical expertise and traditional craftsmanship to produce pieces that are entirely unique to the people who commission them.

No catalogue can contain imagination. No standard collection can reflect a personal story. Every bespoke commission is created exclusively for one client, one home and one vision.

This is craftsmanship without compromise.

Your Vision

Every bespoke commission is unique.

Some clients arrive with detailed drawings and carefully considered dimensions.

Others simply have an idea, a photograph or a treasured memory they would like transformed into something lasting.

Our role is to listen.

Working closely with you, we explore your vision and discuss how it can be realised through the materials, techniques and craftsmanship that define Austen & White.

No two commissions are ever the same.

Each project is designed exclusively around you.

Discovering The Perfect Materials

The materials chosen become part of the story.

Together we will discuss the most appropriate materials for your commission, which may include:

  • Reclaimed timber
  • Solid hardwoods
  • Engraved ceramic
  • Natural slate
  • Mirror glass
  • Resin finishes
  • Lichtenberg fractal wood burning
  • Specialist finishes and protective coatings

Whether your commission celebrates the rich character of reclaimed wood or the timeless elegance of engraved ceramic or natural slate, every material is selected for its beauty, durability and suitability for the project.

Personalisation Without Compromise

A bespoke commission offers complete creative freedom.

Depending upon the nature of your project, we can incorporate personalised elements including:

  • Family names
  • Meaningful dates
  • Favourite quotations
  • Handwriting
  • Portraits
  • Pet portraits
  • Landscapes
  • Architectural details
  • Memorial inscriptions
  • Business branding
  • Bespoke artwork
  • Decorative engraving

Every detail is carefully considered to create a piece that is entirely your own.

Commission Approval

Once your design, specification and quotation have been approved, your commission is formally accepted into our workshop schedule.

To secure your production slot and enable materials to be sourced, a deposit is required before work begins.

This allows our craftsmen to commence production with confidence, knowing every aspect of the commission has been carefully agreed.

Craftsmanship In Progress

Every Austen & White commission is individually created.

Unlike mass-produced furniture or decorative pieces, your project progresses through numerous stages of craftsmanship, each requiring time, precision and attention to detail.

Where appropriate, we will share visual updates throughout production, allowing you to see your commission take shape as it moves through key stages of the making process.

These updates provide reassurance and offer a fascinating insight into the craftsmanship behind your bespoke piece.

Lead Times

Every commission differs.

A simple engraved plaque may be completed far more quickly than a handcrafted dining table, a large ceramic feature wall or an intricate Lichtenberg furniture commission.

Lead times therefore vary according to:

  1. Project complexity
  2. Materials required
  3. Engraving detail
  4. Workshop schedule
  5. Finishing processes

We will always provide an estimated lead time before work begins and keep you informed throughout the project.

Our priority is never speed.

It is exceptional craftsmanship.

Crafted To Be Treasured

The most meaningful objects are often those created with purpose.

A portrait that honours a much-loved companion.

A memorial that preserves precious memories.

A reclaimed timber table that becomes the centrepiece of family gatherings.

An engraved slate installation that welcomes visitors for generations.

A bespoke ceramic feature wall that transforms a house into a home.

These are not simply products.

They are pieces with stories, created to be lived with, admired and passed on.
