Crafted Around Your Vision

The most remarkable creations begin with an idea.

Perhaps it is a treasured photograph waiting to become an engraved ceramic feature wall. A beautifully weathered piece of reclaimed timber destined to become a statement table. A family crest preserved in slate. A Lichtenberg wall sculpture unlike anything that exists elsewhere. Or perhaps it is simply an inspiration waiting to be realised.

At Austen & White, bespoke craftsmanship lies at the very heart of what we do. We specialise in transforming individual ideas into exceptional creations, combining artistry, technical expertise and traditional craftsmanship to produce pieces that are entirely unique to the people who commission them.

No catalogue can contain imagination. No standard collection can reflect a personal story. Every bespoke commission is created exclusively for one client, one home and one vision.

This is craftsmanship without compromise.

Begin You Bespoke Journey

Your Vision. Our Craftsmanship.

Every commission begins with a conversation.

We take time to understand not only what you wish to create, but why. Whether your inspiration comes from architecture, nature, family history, fine art, photography or a simple sketch on paper, our craftsmen work alongside you to explore every possibility before the creative journey begins.

From the earliest concepts through to the final finishing touches, collaboration remains central to everything we do. Every decision is considered together, ensuring the finished piece reflects your personality, complements its surroundings and exceeds expectations.

Rather than simply producing an object, we create pieces with meaning, permanence and individuality.

Designed Around You

Every Austen & White commission is individually tailored.

Clients may select reclaimed timber or carefully chosen hardwoods according to the character they wish their piece to possess. Rich grain patterns, colour variation and natural texture all influence the final design.

Finishes are equally personal. Oils, waxes, lacquers and specialist protective coatings can be selected to complement both the material and the intended environment, enhancing the natural beauty of the wood while providing lasting durability.

Where appropriate, decorative resin can be incorporated into a design, introducing colour, contrast and contemporary elegance while remaining sympathetic to the character of the timber itself.

Engraving provides yet another opportunity for personalisation. Family photographs, architectural drawings, meaningful quotations, handwritten notes, botanical illustrations, business logos, maps, landscapes and original artwork can all become part of the finished piece.

Every commission is as individual as the person who imagined it.

Expertise Across Multiple Disciplines

One of Austen & White’s greatest strengths is the breadth of our craftsmanship.

Our workshop brings together expertise in bespoke woodworking, fine engraving, reclaimed timber furniture, ceramic engraving, slate engraving, artisan carpentry and Lichtenberg wood art.

Each discipline informs the next.

An engraved ceramic installation benefits from artistic composition and technical precision.

A handcrafted reclaimed wood table demands structural understanding alongside creative design.

A personalised memorial requires both exceptional engraving and sensitivity of execution.

By combining multiple specialist skills within one workshop, we are able to undertake commissions of remarkable originality and complexity while maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship throughout.

A Collaborative Creative Journey

Commissioning a bespoke piece should be an enjoyable and rewarding experience.

From your initial enquiry, we guide you through every stage of the creative process.

We begin by discussing your ideas, intended use, preferred materials and desired aesthetic.

Design concepts are then explored, refined and developed collaboratively.

Material selections are made, finishes are chosen and every detail is considered before craftsmanship begins.

Throughout the commission, we remain in close communication, ensuring you remain connected to the evolution of your piece from concept through to completion.

When the finished creation leaves our workshop, it is not simply delivered—it is the culmination of a shared creative journey.
